well glad to have found this board, what a lifesaver! we are in a lot of debt, too much to name at this time of the night. i'll have to tally up the totals and let you know later for more specific help.

one problem i am having is that my cc are high interest rates. i wish i had some of the lower rates i have seen posted like below 10%. each cc is around 19%.

i have phoned one of the companies and they denied me a lower interest rate. i have done the lower rate if you transfer balances from another cc for 6 months thing and well that gets you nowhere as i have found lol.

just wondering who i need to talk to in order to get a better rate or what i need to say?

Hello, and welcome.

I'm sure others with more experience will post, but I just wanted to say that if it were me I would keep calling them.

I would caution you not to compare rates directly.

Hi!

I am also from Canada. I am not sure where you live, but I have a CC MC that has a 5.9% interest rate (I think PC is only available in Alberta and Ontario but I could be wrong). I know they are offering a 0.97% balance transfer right now for 6 months, but depending on how much debt you have, that may not be long enough. Regardless, you could still use that information to call your CC and see if you can't get your rate lowered a bit!

HTH!

i already have a pc mc and the rate is around 19%. is it that cc your talking about? they are the ones i called before however i wasn't that persistent so maybe i will try again. the balance transfer is only for new customers.

Yup, Presidents Choice Mastercard (I originally got it for the free groceries, lol).

My rate is at 5.9%. I have never called to get it lowered, thats just how its always been (although I have never had a late payment) and I have a chequing and savings account with them as well.

I would call and pester and see what they can do for you. Its true though, Canadian CC companies hardly ever offer the deals like they do in the States!
