Hello everyone,
So I've got a bit of a problem here. I got into a bit of trouble with a credit card in college. It ended up being sold to CACH LLC or something of the sort. CACH, without ever contacting me, hired at attorney, who sent me a letter. I called the attorney and started making monthly payments to the attorney's office. I have not once missed a payment to the attorney's office. The only reason I got behind in my payments in the first place was a complete accident, and I felt really stupid for doing it in the first place. I received my credit report and CACH is listed on there, as a Key Derogatory, and it lists me as not having made any payments, ever! I contacted the attorney and he tells me that they do not report to the credit agencies, but that I am receiving credit for my payments. I asked him to send me documentation of that, and he promised that he would.
But here's the thing: Their client is reporting me as not making the payments! Is there anything I can do??? I'm making payments regularly and instead of my credit getting better, it's getting worse!

I hope you kept copies of the cashed checks. Call the company, send them a letter including copies of the cashed checks.
Who is the check made out to?
Good luck.
Sorry I'm not much help.

Years ago I worked for a lawyer that did some collections First thing they did was run a credit check on all the new accounts and put in their name in the credit report agencies. But they never reported when people paid them each month. Now they would if the account was paid in full put in the credit agency that the account was paid in full. If the people demanded it.
You can't make a lawyer report each month. Just that they are handling
Thank you!
I do have copies of everything, and I keep asking them to send me more documentation all the time, just because I want to make sure I have all my paperwork. He did say that he would send me a letter at the end indicating the debt was paid in full. What bothers me the most, is that THEIR CLIENT- the person who supposedly hired the attorney- (who is not the original creditor) is reporting me every month to the credit agencies as not making any payments.
Is there anything I can do about that? I understand that the attorneys don't report to the credit agencies, but why can their client report me as not paying when I am?
You could dispute the item on your credit report.
All my best,
Danni
Thank you all for your responses. You are very helpful, I have no idea what I'm doing.
I did contact him and was told I was being sent a computer printout of my record of payments. I guess what I should do once I receive that is directly contact the credit reporting agencies and report the error. He also promised me a letter at the end of the debt which I guess I can use to have the errors fixed. It's so annoying because my debt is reflected on my credit report as having gone down for the exact amount that I have paid the lawyer since December, but they're still reporting me as having missed payments. Does that sound mega-shady to anyone else?
On your credit report somewhere it says Bank Two and next to it is shows a "9" three months passed due "charge off" 18,000.00 12/12/2006
Then it would show Lawyer Jones or the name of his company "Collections of America."
