So, I had a pretty successful weekend. I had one slight drawback. I went for my brazilian and they had a special on the different packages. I went with the middle-priced package. Even tho it does save me money overall, I'm going to have to really scale back my grocery shopping and eating/drinking out for the next month or two.
I did a great job, tho, this weekend. I only ate out for lunch on Friday, and I went the cheap route. I ate at La Madeleine for $5.02. I got a bowl of their tomato basil soup. They have free bread and jam and butter, and I ordered tap water to drink. I was quite full, and I'm glad I only paid the five bucks for all that. The rest of the weekend DF paid for our outing Friday night with another couple, I ate at home (altho I was tempted to make a run at SB b/c it was sooooooooo hot), and I did go to the grocery store with DF yesterday evening. We decided to buy stuff to make shakes instead of spending the same amt. and go to Steak N Shake.
Sat. and Sun., I did my most favorite, cheap thing - I went to the pool and relaxed!!
Sat., I made some Goodwill donations (tax write-off!!), bought a friend a wedding gift, and returned the bookcase I'd bought with my b'day money. The wood was the wrong color. =(
Yesterday, I only spent money at the grocery. I didn't go hog wild or anything. I actually don't like that grocery v. much. It's small and doesn't have a whole lot of variety, but it's within walking distance.
I've got my breakfast and my lunch with me. And I'll be dining in tonight! =)
Hope you all had a great, budget-minded weekend!

I LOVE their soup. It's a creamy base and they are famous for it. They even sell it by the jar. I forgot my free dessert coupon, tho. If you sign up to get emails (few and far b/t), they send you a coupon for a free dessert for your b'day. I can always use free food! =D
Ok, so since I returned the bookcase and am not sure when I'll find one that I'm looking for, I just ordered the winter jacket I wanted from Nike last year, and it's 50% off the price from last winter. So, there goes part of my b'day money. $200 left to spend!
I was ALMOST tempted
Wow, it costs twice that much where I go. I don't think I've ever seen a brazilian advertised for that cheap here in the US. I've been seeing my wax girl for about 3 yrs now. I trust her, and I will follow where she goes unless she moved really far away.

Sorry, girl. Looks like you may have to go to TX to get some soup!

I went to the Amish country of Indiana this weekend. Traveling with 4 kids (two were mine two were my sisters) is exhausting and overwhelming. But we survived.
Got home Saturday (Left Thursday AM) and took kids to the zoo yesterday. We are members.
That sounds like fun! I can't remember ever going to the zoo. I should go to ours.

I saw this on CNN a few days back! Crazy!
We saw a guy cleaning out the bear's habitat and my son was more fascinated by him then he was by the polar bear playing in the pool in the habitat next door. Kids crack me up. We are zoo members - costs us $79 a year and it is $8 per person otherwise to get in plus $8 to park so it pays to be a member.
Unfortunately b/c of the cost of gas its a good drive for us to get there so we haven't gone as much as I'd like. Oh well - it's "free" for us to go to the zoo - we can even bring in coolers and pack a lunch - but it still eats up gas to get there. Can't win it seems these days.
