My DH and I have just begun our debt journey recently. We have started making small cutbacks but I know my DH is having a hard time with it. He is driving me NUTS lately about getting new cell phones. We have no need for new cell phones and nothing is wrong with our current phones or our current phone service. He just gets this bug about him to switch phones. It's not just phones - he's like this with a lot of stuff. This is how we incur more and more expenses that we DON'T need to incur.
Finally today he kept sending me links to this new cell phones (he's at home today and I'm at work.) I just emailed back in anger that HE could get a new phone if he wanted but I'm not getting one. (He won't get a new one if I don't - I know this.)
How do I get him to just realize sometimes what we have HAS to be good enough? I know its hard but this is the first of many bumps we are going to deal with and I need to convince him sometimes we just gotta say NO. Or live with what we have. Do we have the newest, most advanced cell phones? No. Do we have a cell phone in case something happens to our kids or our car breaks down? Yes.
I just want to scream. He nags, nags, nags me until I just can't stand it.

I have a friend who's hubby does the same thing.
