Feeling some relief

MMI has started to take my payments, so they will be sending letters to my CC's soon. I like not having to send out multiple different payments to the cards because I was so overwhelmed and I was getting confused with what I was doing. Sometimes I would pay one card with another card..ie: using the convenience checks. Has anyone else done that? Such a bad thing to do! We just couldn't afford it anymore and I'm hoping MMI is the answer.
I just wanted to say that this board has helped me a lot. It's good to see other people have the same issues as I do!
One CC called me the other day, because they aren't getting payments yet from MMI so they are becoming late. I'm trying not to worry about it because I know they will get a letter from MMI. I've just never had the CC's calling me.
When I log onto MMI I can see our total debt on each credit card, I like the way they set it up. It just feels good to have them taking care of it all. We only kept 2 cards off of the MMI program and we haven't been using them. DH has been worse about charging than me, and I think we are finally on the same page about getting this all taken care of and not charging. I'm still doing direct deposit advances sometimes and my bank charges me for that, but at least I'm not using a credit card. I'm telling the kids no more often when they don't need to eat out or buy things. Or they can use their own allowance money!

Thanks for listening and I'm so glad this board has helped me!
I'm looking forward to seeing my debt go down. I should try to use a ticker I guess! I'm getting more brave about it all and facing the reality!
Have a good day!
I also wanted to mention we've been needing a new TV. Instead of charging a big screen, we bough the neighbor's old TV for $50! It's big and works great. I'm happy we bought something we could afford and didn't charge it instead!

I am responding to my own post. I am a little disappointed that nobody has responded to me. I am feeling better and it would be great just to hear some encouragement, thanks

I will write to you. I hope this all works for you. The only time I ever used a credit advance to pay another card is when I was doing the old house. We used to get money anyway we could just to get it finished. Not a good thing. But we did it.

Hi Kim - I'm glad that you're feeling relieved and that MMI seems to be the answer for you and your family.

All my best,

Thank you. MMI sent out letters this week to my CC's. I'm so glad they sent out letters quickly.
Thanks for responding.

That's the feeling I had when I went with a CCCS/MMI plan 4 years ago. It was like, "Whew, it's being taken care of!"

You might need to make payments to the CCs that ended up being late, because they might consider you permanently a month behind from this point on. You should check with the individual CC companies to find out. Once they get past the original negotiation, there are some things MMI won't do. For example, I wanted to make sure the due dates on my CCs were all mid-month, because I had the payment taken out on the first of the month - that would allow enough time for MMI to take out the money, keep it for a few days to earn the interest on the float, and send it to the CCs (that's the other way they make their money). I had to call the CCs myself and change the due date, MMI couldn't or wouldn't do it. Not a big deal, IMO, to have to make an occasional phone call.

You might want to call the CCs to make sure everything is OK with the MMI plan and that it's all taken care of on their end. It's worth making one more phone call to each to make sure you are really all set.

And congratulations on the TV. Sometimes, "good enough" IS good enough.

I called the CC's today and changed the due dates without a problem. They asked me for payments but I had to say no, all my money has gone to MMI. I can afford a late payment for once, I don't have any on my report.
Did you end up closing all your CC's? When after starting MMI did you close them?

I pulled my credit report 3 years ago, when we were about to buy a house, and discovered that some of them
