That's great. I've done the same thing with my PC Mastercard points...a lot. One word of caution I would add is that I find that Shopper's Drug Mart tends to be considerably more expensive on a lot of things than other drug stores in the area, unless stuff is on sale. I know you are getting it for free with those points, but you want to get the most out of the points, I would assume.

I have found I have thrown a lot of produce away over the summer, so I am going to start to split stuff with my mum. That will save us both money if we can share fruit and vegetables.

Bex you might like this: frugalshopper.ca...go to the discussion forum on the top banner, and scroll down until you find the "Freebies for Canadians" and you can scroll through all those posts and check out stuff that is of interest to you. People post links to a zillion things they find a website or a coupon to get stuff for free. It is amazing what people post, and I have followed some of them and yes, actually gotten some decent no-strings-attached free stuff.

Proctor and Gamble has launched a new samples website...you can go there once a month (they change the offerings once a month and you can only choose stuff once a month) and they send you samples of stuff. I went a few weeks ago for the launch and am still waiting to receive anything, but I have faith ;)In Canada: pgbrandsampler.ca In the USA: pgeverydaysolutions.com

This last one depends on your perspective...I went running shoe shopping on the weekend when I went into the city. I have been planning this for awhile. I went to the locally owned/staffed by runners that understand how to fit shoes and couldn't find anything decent. So I went to Footlocker and low and behold, the buy one, get one half price sale. I found two pairs of runners that I really like that fit...so I should have just gotten those. Well, Pumas are the cool shoe here and I really wanted some, and they fit and were comfortable...I almost bought two pair to get each of the runners at half price. I paid full price for the Pumas and got the runners at half price (so did I save any money? I spent $60 more than I would have if I just bought the runners...but I have a really cool pair of Pumas in addition to my new runners).

I think one of the best frugal tips is to do things yourself instead of paying other people to do them for you.

I don't know if it qualifies as "crazy" but I have started cutting my two boys' hair and my husband's all by myself. I just buzz them with the clippers, so it's pretty easy. I never thought I would consider getting a "real" haircut a luxury, but I do now! I only get my hair cut once or twice a year. . . and so far haven't tried to do that myself!

I enjoy your posts/topics Bex!

Even though I do have credit card debt, I am very frugal when it comes to some things--here are a few of my ideas. Not too crazy, but hopefully someone will make use of them.

Shop the Dollar store for certain items--liquid soap; band aids--my kids use probably one per day!; cotton swabs; party plates/napkins; gift bags & tissue; 12 x 12 white scrapbook cardstock; votive candles (especially for Halloween pumpkins); candy to take to the movie theater--their boxed candy is $1 vs. $4 at the theater;

Thanks Anne! And good for you for cutting their hair at home. I think its a big deal that I cut the dog's nails (I once had to cut burrs out of her fur and I did such a horrible hack job that she wouldn't come near me for a day . . . thats right, the dog was embarassed!!!)
