One company told DH that they'd close our account once. He must have been listening to me all of those months that I've explained my "work" to him (I consider getting rid of debt a joyous hobby at this point, LOL) because he finally told one of them "Go ahead and close the account. You'll stop charging fees, eventually sell it to a collector, and they'll settle with me for half of what I owe right now. What kind of threat is THAT?" (He was almost right...they normally make us pay 60% of the total, not 50%, LOL). Not the best method to take if you're worried about your credit report, but I know ours will rebound once the debt falls off.

For the record, the woman told him that was NOT true and then proceeded to waive the past three late fees and update the account so that it did not show past due in exchange for his promise to make one regular payment by the end of the month.

I know that doesn't help you, but I'm with you -- reading this board makes me feel like I'm not alone in my struggle to get rid of debt, that THAT really helps!

I hope they foreclose on Murphy and he heads down the road and away from you! (((Hugs)))

Dana

Go to the dollar store and buy one of those little note books they only cost a dollar.

Then each month put your list of bills and the payments on them on a page.

August

total 22,313

AAA -63.00

And so on.

Reason I am saying to do this When you have a really terrible month And last month was bad for us. Then you can look back in your note book say to January or Feb. and

Hugs to you.

Just wanted to say hang in there. Seems like some months are great for some people and other months are horrid. I have had my share of down, bad months but you gotta keep plugging along. The good times will come. It takes determination and effort. Two things you have !!!

It's the end of summer - let the sprinkler thing go and just vow to fix it next spring. I hope you have a nice, cheap, relaxing holiday weekend !
