At long last they are opening an Aldi's in our area. I know they are less expensive but that is about all I know.

99% of what they sell is not name brand, but sometimes they'll sell things like Teddy Grahams, Quaker granola bars, or Colgate toothpaste. This is the exception, not the rule.
However, the Aldi label stuff, IMO, tastes better than store brand items at other places, but they sell it even cheaper. I think I posted earlier that a 40 oz. box of Bisquick at my Kroger goes for $3.99. Kroger brand is 2.79. Aldi is 1.69.

When you go into the store, you'll see why they can sell it this cheaply. It's not a "pretty" store. There is little to no shelving. They don't have free bags - (I bring my own cloth bags. My DH just stacks it in the cart and loads it loose in the car. :/) Items are stored in the boxes they came in and stacked on the floor, but it's still tidy, and there's no denying the savings or quality.

They have a great meal planner on their website that we use before we go shopping there. You can click on different meals and it will compile a list for you so that you can print it out and take to the store.

People seem to either love it or hate it, but I'm a convert. We get 90% to 95% of our groceries there now.
