Paying Down Debt

Just curious to see how everyone is doing paying down their debt ... We were recently affected by Hurricane Gustav and unfortunately I had to dip into credit cards that I had paid down in order to evacuate - for gas, hotel and food !!!

Trying to pay down $4k as soon as possible- working towards my goal trying to take baby steps but it seems like for every 4 steps, I get pushed 3 steps back ! I know alot of people are in the same boat as me, some in debt even more than me, but it is still disheartening !!

How are some ways that you have cut back and applied your savings to your debt? I have joined a company online working at home when I can, I also have been earning some money writing articles for online publication as well as selling anything and everything that we no longer need or use on ebay !!

you need a change jar and money box Sometimes you can not use credit cards You need cash.

Might be a good time to count how much you spent this time and make that a goal amount for next time You can bet there will be a next time.

I know I need to do that. I read Suzy Orman's book and she talks about having 6 months living expenses in savings ! I wonder how many people have 6 months socked away... that is my goal- maybe I'll aim for 1 month in case of another evacuation !
