Free online credit report?

I clicked on a banner ad in my Yahoo! email (I normally don't click those little box ads in websites but I figured if it's on Yahoo! it should be reasonably legit). It is for a free online credit report plus credit score from Transunion. It says it comes with a free "Privacy Protection Plus" trial. You get the credit report and score instantly online, credit monitoring and alerts.
This is in Canada. The website is "FreeCreditReportsInstantly.com"
A few weeks ago I went to Equifax and Transunion websites looking for the form to print or link to use to request a free credit report by mail. Couldn't find anything on the site (well, I found a link on one of their sites but it just linked me to having to pay for the report online).
I would like to do this because I am curious what my credit score would be (you don't get the score with the free paper report). But I am totally wary of this...what the free Privacy Protection/Monitoring trial would set me up for.
So, has anyone heard of this? Ever tried it? Thoughts?

don't do it you will never get it started once they start and it is for me a rip off.

Annualcreditreport.com is the one that has been repeatedly suggested to me and I do use it myself.
Don't go through free credit report places! They
