Weekend expenses?

What are we all doing this weekend? What is it going to cost us?

We are going to my MIL's house tonight for b-day cake. Her b-day is tomorrow. My dh is out buying her gift today (talk about waiting until the last minute but I TOLD him to buy it sooner.....) Anyway, aside from her gift we don't have much to buy this weekend. We are low on funds and I'd rather NOT transfer money from savings to carry us til payday next Thursday. If I do transfer I will replenish what we took but still. I hate doing it.

We will probably just relax at home a lot and maybe hit the library. Low key weekend for us.

We have a possibly expensive weekend coming up, but it is all budgeted for.

DH and I have our birthdays a week apart, so we are going out to dinner tomorrow night at a very, very nice restaurant. My dad always sends us each a check for our birthdays, so with our birthday money, the overall tab shouldn't be too horrendous.

And we are going to shop for bedroom furniture! Our furniture is all hand-me-downs, twice over (it's stuff people didn't even want 50 years ago!). DH has been begging for us to buy new furniture for years, and it has finally moved up to priority on the budget, so we are going to start on Saturday. Neither of us feels we need anything extravagant, but we do need bigger dressers, night tables, and lamps. DH is also going to paint the room a peaceful sage color (no more "decorator beige"!).

I don't think we're doing anything. DH is ref'ing soccer games all weekend, and I have to work. Being too busy to go anywhere has been good for our wallet! LOL

Aside from the usual weekend spending of grocery shopping and laundry, we have to get our brakes look at so we are talking about a $250 expense.

We're planning to stay around home all weekend - so it'll be an inexpensive weekend for us. I just filled our car up with gas since there are reports of stations on the west side of the state (I live in Michigan) who raised the gas to over $5/gallon! Oye!

This week-end I'll be going to my eyebrow threading appt as well as my massage which is 90% reimbursable by work insurance but I have to pay up front. Aside from that, the week-end will not be an expensive one at all!

I have some large potential expenses this weekend. I desperately need a new dresser and have been unsuccessful so far in funding one. My current target special is literally falling apart so I'm trying to find something reasonable but not cheaply made. Same for a new bookcase. And I plan to visit my gparents which will take a tank of gas - well worth it. I also have to exchange my hiking boots bc they aren't waterproof after all as I found out last weekend on our hiking/camping trip. I have a few misc groceries to get but not more than $10 worth.
