1. Favorite band? I would have to say Duran Duran. Even though they weren't rock and roll they were very popular when I was in high school in the 80's :) I got to see them in concert in 2007 when I visited a friend who lives in England. It sure brought back memories!
2. I always wanted to be a teacher. I went to college to become one but didn't graduate. I started working and soon school was on the back burner. If I could change anything I would have finished college. That is my biggest regret in my life.
3. I don't feel in control of my debt. I recently broke down and added it all up. I was knocked off my feet. I knew it was bad but when it was there in black and white it was a very sobering experience. I can pay my bills every month but there hardly anything left over. I have never been late on a payment. I am trying to slash what I can. I am just worried that in this economy nothing is safe anymore. I have decided to take all my credit cards and put them in my safety deposit box at the bank. I think not having the easy access to them will help me. I do worry that I will never get this paid off.
1. What was your favorite rock 'n' roll band when you were growing up? I was not a rock n roll kind of girl. My all time favorite was the band "Alabama". I am a Southern gal through and through.
2. What did you want to be when you grew up? Did you pursue it or did something stop you? If you could go back 10 years and do things differently with education and jobs, what would you change? It's funny because my mom kept a book when I was growing up with my school records, papers, etc. in it and each year I had to fill in the blank,"When I grow up I want to be....." It went from a waitress to a policewoman to an artist. I am now a teacher so I guess I took a job where I actually had to fulfill all of those roles. :) If I could go back 10 years, I don't think I would change anything other than my debt situation. I have worked hard and earned an EdS degree. I worked my way through college, took a year off between the second and third years to save money to pay for the last two years. I graduated without any student loans but once I got married and started living on my own, the debt situation got out of hand.
3. Do you feel in control of your debt situation? What aspect of your debt issue do you feel most in control of? What do you feel less in control of? Can you predict your monthly income? Can you predict your monthly bill total? Do you feel certain you can pay all your bills each month, or do you worry about keeping up? How often do you miss a payment, and what is the most common reason it happens? I think I am now in control of the debt situation. I know that I have $1500 to snowball each month and that happens. I don't feel in control of my husband's spending. He gives me about 1/2 of what he makes each week and he spends the rest on what he wants to. How fair is that? I definitely know what I'll make each week but hubby's income is unpredictable. He is self-employed in construction. We are current on all bills. I might have been late twice in the last 20 years just because of an oversight. I know I can pay my bills now but I also know that we could be debt free and should have been already. Oh well, that's a brief summary of my life. :)
