Hi all, I'm new to this board and I had a couple of questions...I'm currently going through a divorce, with which we have separated all but the marital debts (biggest part being in my name), so I'm hoping to get some of a settlement to pay off all small debts (cable, cellphones, etc) but my student loans. So hopefully in the end all debts I'll have in my name is (if the settlement comes) about $6-7k in student loans. But here's the thing, I'm still in school and just got a loan of $1,732 from financial aid and my classes are paid for, so I've just got that money sitting in the bank at the moment. I live off of about $18,400/yr with not much extra for any "wanted" expenses, i.e. cable, internet. I had to pay $400 to my mom for help on the divorce, so that leaves $1,332. My truck's in dire need of repair, although not sure what the problem is yet until it just quits. I've taken it to many garages and I've been told a hundred different things. I know that I'll have to use some of it for that, we'll approximate $200 since my Dad could work on it. My question is though, should I leave that money ($1,332) sitting in the savings account and try my best to fix the truck with what little money I make or should I use it? Or should I send it back to the loan company in payment on the loan? I need some advice on it because I could really use the money, but that digs me deeper into debt. Any comments? Thanks! :)

Hi,
I personally think that you should the truck fixed (to where you are sure that it is reliable) and then revisit what to do with what's left of the money.
Just my 2 cents,

LOL - turning the radio up louder is usually how I deal with a strange noise, too.
