That's certainly a nasty shock.

Those were my questions also - the insurance agent assured me that the companies keep track of the mvr - and some of the things will drop off - but you ought to know that the main thing was the speeding ticket of driving 80 in a 60 mile zone - and it was in March 2006...my husband kept thinking "it was took care of" - that was always his answer - he even thought that when he got a bill in January 2008 (now why it took that long I don't know - and maybe courts don't send out bills - I don't know) but my advice is to pay them quickly.

Dear Gal,

As one who has worked with insurance calculations, all I can say is that your credit score and driving history are massively important.

I'm not sure if this is possible, but I have a thought that I want to throw out there.

Most insurance companies want to know if you are married AND who lives in your house.

Also - most insurers share the CLUE database - this way they all have access to similar information about people.

All my best,

That makes sense as to why the original company had her add him in the first place; I didn't think of that.

That is the way it went - he wasn't on the policy because we were separated and had filed for divorce.

I don't know the answer to your question about if it would hurt you to change a lot, but I can give you my opinion on how often to shop around.

This might help a bit -- two years ago I took a defensive driving/safety class. It was 6 hours long on a Saturday, but the day seemed to go by fast. They have day and evening classes, too. I think that I paid between $50 and $65 for it. In New York state, taking this course reduces your auto insurance premium by 10% for two years. It's time to take it again, before my discount runs out!
