The curse of the post-Halloween sales hit me big time. I need to do some returning of stuff today. Went to Target on Saturday and got my son 3 LED Halloween town villages. He is 5 and LOVES these things. I was going to give him some for xmas. I was going to see if my mom wanted to buy one from me and give it to my ds for xmas. One was $17.49, one was $12.99 and one was $9.99. I also got a skeleton blanket on sale for $4.99.
To make matters worse I hit Walmart yesterdy and got my kids some Halloween t-shirts for next year. Two for my dd - $3.50 each and one for my ds at $3.50. I need to return those too.
What is wrong with me? I didn't charge anything - it all came out of my checking account but after looking at my checking account why in the world did I go out and spend over $50 on stuff I didn't need?
Sometimes I just get so mad at myself.

Don't be so hard on yourself. We're only human. At least you have the will power to return them.
MYM
Just return them and breathe a sigh of relief. You are realizing the most important thing, which is that you DON'T need them. Who on earth needs Halloween t-shirts and skeleton blankets, anyway? It's just more money and more clutter that someday you'll have to get rid of.
Here's what I have to say about Target and Walmart: SHOPPING IS NOT ENTERTAINMENT! I say that as someone who used to live in the same complex as a shopping mall and used to shop 3-4 days a week, and now only shops for necessities. Learn to shop for only what you need, even if that means you pay slightly more someplace else. If you have to go to a big store like Target or Walmart, ONLY buy things you NEED to buy. No "it's such a great deal," no "it's so cute," no "this would be great for my kids." If you didn't need it before you walked in the store, you don't need it now.
You have come farther than you realize, just by identifying that you didn't need these Halloween things and getting ready to return them. Now, go do it, and feel good about yourself that you did!
