Got a Job

Hi Everyone....

I don't live far from an outlet. I filled out an application at a children's clothing store. I was interviewed on the spot and offered the job.

I will be starting this Sunday from 3pm to 9 pm. I told them I could only work weekends, maybe a couple of days during the week while my kids are in school.

I hope this helps us out a little with our dog's medical bills and our overall financial mess. It will definitely kill our family time. However, I feel it's a sacrafice we must make at this point.

Financially, we can't live like this anymore. I'm just not happy. My husband got paid today. Well, we have $300 left to last us for two weeks. I would still have to buy some groceries. There were bills that just could not be paid. Two of the credit cards were not paid. I hope they don't drop us from the program. This pay was used for our mortgage payment, my husband's bus pass and had to pay overdraft fees, etc. I went to the vet and bought Jordan a bag of Science Diet K/D. It's a low protein diet, which she needs to be on to prevent seizures.

Thanks again everyone. Will keep you updated in our overall situation.

P.S. I was so excited that I got offered the job, I walked out w/someone's coffee. I realized it once I got to my car. I was so embarassed. I went back and apologized to the interviewer. She hadn't notice, but she said thank you. Gosh!!! what must she be thinking. LOL!!!!

Congrats on the new job! I too took a second job and its tough. But I love seeing those paychecks roll in and know that the money I am making is starting us first on building an Efund and second on repaying c/c debt. You too will have those feelings of freedom once you start working and getting that paycheck.

You will just learn to value your family time more. You are doing this to better your family - always remember that. I often work and think to myself, "financial security financial security." I know it sounds cheesy but I seriously sometimes say that to myself while I'm working (in my head of course.) Makes me being away from the kids a little easier.

Thanks beepsmomx2,

I am worried about being away from kids. However, I know my husband, (their dad) will take care of them.

I'm excited and nervous. It's only a part-time/temp job.

Thanks again.....

My second job is at night - most times I don't start until 9 p.m. when the kids are in bed. But its nice and secure to know that my DH is the one home w/them. If your DH is home w/the kids while you are out working they are getting the love they need.

Once you pay a few things down perhaps you won't need the second job as much. :)

If your second job starts at 9 p.m., when do you get time to sleep?

I have soon to be 7 year old twins (boy and girl).

We live in Pocono Mountain, Pennsylvania. My husband working in New York City. Sometimes he has to travel for work. Our family live in New York.

Having family to take care of kids is priceless. You're very lucky in that sense.

How far is the commute from your home to NYC? We live in a suburb of Chicago. :)

I have a 5 yo DS and a almost 2 yo DD. Having family care for them is amazing and I am very very thankful. Until they are both in school full time my working part time benefits the family financially. That's why I took the second job at night. My DH works OT if he can get it but we just need to work on building up our Efund and then work on cracking down on our c/c's. Right now we just don't charge anything and do our best to pay more than the minimums.

Your kids will be better off when you are less stressed about money. If this is what you have to do for 6 months or a year - then you buckle down and do it. Know you are doing right for your family and work proud at that kids clothing store!!

The commute from where I live to NYC is 2 hours. He doesn't drive it. He takes a commuter bus, which charges $85 for round-trip tickets for 5 days. Therefore, it's costing us $340.00. Most of the time, he drives on fridays.
