Anther cable bill increase

I got another letter in the mail saying our bundle is going to be $200.00 without taxes or fees. This is for our cable, internet and phone with unlimited long distance.

We can't and won't pay that. So had anyone any tips on negotiating down a monthly bill? I have a flier they mailed out saying new customers get the same deal for 99.00 a month for a year. I have a few calls out to local dish companies to see what they offer and prices. Would I be better off going in and handing the fliers and other deals to the cashier? Calling got me no where when we were having problems with service. What about email? Anyone have a key phrases to get things handled? I know when I worked in the medical field if a patient said certain things they were sped up or treated differently.

Thanks,
Liza in WI

Hmmm..well, When I first called to cancel our cable they offered us 1/2 price for 6 months. However, they did not extend the offer after that and I really did cancel the cable! Our family watches pretty specific stuff, so we were able to replace the cable with Netflix (a savings of $65 per month). That probably doesn't work for people who want to catch the latest episodes of things, but we felt that we needed to make the most of our time and not be in front of the TV so much anyway.

Honestly, I have noticed fewer and fewer good offers for that sort of thing. Instead of "free" or "1/2 off", I see "rebate" or "10% off". I think that they have less subscribers because of tight budgets and are trying to get all they can out of existing customers! Just my thoughts anyway,

I have the exact same problem!

I was talking with a friend last night (we live in the same area of town and everything) and she recently called the cable company and they made a deal with her to where, if she locked in her service for 2 years, they lowered the bill $100. We are calling today to do the same thing-- we figure if by some weird chance we move so far away that we're not within range in the next 2 years (VERY unlikely!) then we'll deal with that then (you have to pay a penalty, but hey, it's way less than $100 a month!)

So you might want to call and ask ,if you don't foresee cancelling cable/internet/and phone anytime soon (we don't). It might take a LONG time, you might be on hold for awhile...but it's worth it, IMO! What helps me is to call and just have the cordless
