Ok. So here it goes, sorry soo long. We have been in debt before, but never this bad. We are about 100,000 in cc debt and a huge mortgage. My husband makes a good salary. About 160,000. I am dying to go to work, but with three kids the daycare just wouldn't pay. I am on the hunt

Have you tried telling your credit card companies that you have a lower interest offer that you are thinking of transferring the balances too? Also I have heard that if the first person says no, just ask to speak to their supervisor and so on until you get what you want. Also as you already have 3 children at home what about you doing daycare? I know in my area there is a real lack of decent daycare. But other than cutting down your variable expenses and paying down your cards as quickly as possible I have no more ideas. I am also trying to get us out from under the debt monster.

Thanks for your reply. I will try calling them again, some of the rates aren't terrible but some are really high. Right now

I also left out that I really can't threaten transfering balances because we have soo much unsecured debt, I don't think anyone would give us more credit. I wouldn't think of even applying for anything. The worst part of this whole situation is that DH doesn't want to know anything about it . His job is so stressful that I try to handle everything (which is what got us in this mess- I am terrible with money!) but I am afraid that I am going to just drop dead over the stress of this whole thing and then he won't have a choice.

Thanks for the encouragement. Honestly, I have never had a budget or really thought about anything. Now I am in overdrive cutting back and looking for ways to save money. I always think what is $5 here and there on a huge cc bill, but I guess that is how I have to look at it. Unfortunately, everything looks so monumental right now. Also, we live in a fairly affluent community where

I totally understand where you are coming from about your husband's job and where you live.

Sometimes the way one person can make extra money is not always the way another family can do the same thing. But there are still little ways of doing things. Like going out to eat cut it down to once a week and say it is date night. Then go to a web site like Resteraunt.com and buy a coupon at a eating place you have never been

I know the urge and drive is there to fix your problem and then frustration that you cannot fix it NOW!!

Just remember it took a very long time to get the debt that high and it will take a long time to get it down really far.

Since you are at home, maybe you have time to do an Ebay consignment shop. Start by selling everything in your house that isn't nailed down - old kids clothes, old sports equipment, "decorative" stuff, books, DVDs. Brand name things seem to sell really well. Once you are familiar with the process you could take out a small ad and auction off other people's stuff for a fee.

Thanks for everyones great ideas. It feels good to talk about my situation with people who understand and don't judge. I am keeping my fingers crossed about my 1800 Flowers interview today. It is going to be hard to do at home with my little one, but at least I don't have to worry about daycare. I think the worst part of my situation is not being able to work knowing I have to. The daycare prices here are just not worth it. I still have 3 years till my little one is in full day school. I will also try the ebay thing. I have sold some things in the past.

Thanks again
