Credit Card story and question

Hello,

So awhile back I noticed online a charge on my cc that I did not recongnize. It was for $29.95 and it said privacy security in the description line. I thought hmmm, well maybe my bank just put the charge on there as an identity theft insurance with out my consent, I'll just call and have them take it off. So I called and they said nope, it wasn't them. I said well I don't want it or know what it is can you please take it off. So in order to take off the charge I had to cancel my credit card and get a new one sent to me. All was fine and good, it came in the mail but I noticed(I don't keep a balance so was not paying attention) that the interest rate is 19.5%!! If there was ever an emergency where I needed to keep a balance(hope not, working on building up efund) I would be very unhappy!!!

I was talking to the bf and have an account together at Presiden't choice(Canada). Does anyone know what the rate is for their master card, say, after a trial period when the rate is low and then they crank it up on ya? Then we could pay for our groceries on the card and get the max points as we would pay it off immediately.

Oh, and the bf was concerned(he has two other cards with zero balances) that if you don't use a card--does it get cancelled? And do the three cards give you a bad rating, if you don't use one of the cards or have to many?

Thanks, hope everyone is doing well with snow flaking and holiday planning!

I have a PC Mastercard and my rate is 5.9%. I have been told by a few friends that is low so I'm not sure if its standard or not (one of them says hers is 18.9). Its just always been that way (I have had it for about 7 years now). Not sure if this helps . . .

I have a PC Mastercard and I have 2 rates 5.9 for regular purchases and 18.9 for cash advances. I do know that when I didn't use my card for a couple of years that I received a letter a few months before it was to expire that if I didn't use my card they would just close my account and not send a new card. So I had to use my card to keep it.
