Welcome to the board. I know it's overwhelming - when I first took a hard look at my finances (which I put off doing for a longggg time) I was traumatized. I couldn't believe the hole DH and I had dug ourselves into, especially since we're both professionals and make good money. Know what helped me? Creating a plan. A budget first. If you don't have one, I'd create one. Keep track of exactly how much money you are spending. Once you do this, it's easy to see things that can go. For me, I was able to move many of my cards to low or 0% int. rates. That helps right off the bat. From there, I've just been knocking away at it. But you really have to want to change. You have to accept the sacrifices and know in the end you will be better off. You'll find a lot of great advice here!

Well what are you spending money on? So far we know you pay your parents $100 a month. What other monthly expenses do you have? Maybe you can cut back on something. I assume that you have no children so a part-time job would be great, if you can find one in this current state of the economy. Every little bit of money that you can scrounge up will help to pay down your debt.

What about online courses in your spare time to work towards a job you would enjoy? Start applying for everything that comes up, you need to work. Then you will start to feel better and the attitude with which you attack your debt will rub off onto whatever you do!

Is it possible that you are suffering from depression? If so, I would work on treating that first.

Greta

I am going to talk to you like a dutch grandma. You need to go in and fill your bathtub with hot water and sit it in for while and do some hard thinking about things. First your mom and dad are trying to help you out and you can't even give them a 100.00 a month or pay extra on your bills. The water it takes to wash your clothes the extra electric they are paying for the lights in your bedroom and your computer that alone is costing them more then that 100.00 a month. Do you buy your own food or are they paying for that too. At the rate you are going you will never be back on your own again and if you don't do some hard thinking about things I would say you will be 50,000 in debt in no time and will not have a thing to show for it.

You only make 25,000 a year Well we make a mortgage and all the other normal over head bills that you are not paying on 3,000 a month. that is only 32,000 and our medical bills a month is over 240.00 a month.

So the bring home money would be fine if you worked to make that much. Believe me I would say that 95%of

One thing to keep in mind is although your employer may have been going along with your taking time off, at some point if it inconviences them, you may suddenly find yourself out of a job, and that would be much worse!!

I really do understand your feelings about not liking your job.
