One then gave a funny look and followed that by saying "BUT that is EXACTLY what I do TOO". Others also agree although maybe not as vehemently as that employer did.
Employers are more likely to hire someone who is working elsewhere even if it means they have to give notice to other employer first OVER someone who is not working and can start tomorrow. The bottom line reason is employers will often assume that a person who is working really wants to work and the person who is not might not.
