Economic reality knocking on my door

I sent this email to friends and family. Just got the news this morning that I need to be more diligent now than ever.

>>Morning, everyone. I hope this Thanksgiving season finds you giving thanks in all circumstances. With the economy not in the best situation and with my job being in the auto industry (even better), our company is facing some difficult decisions and some immediate actions. Some employees have been offered early retirement, we've had a few layoffs, and we've also gotten rid of a lot of contractors. Because companies don't look at training as the most justifiable of positions, there is a great possibility that if our numbers don't look better than they project by the end of 2008/beginning of 2009, it's very likely that my job will be terminated.

Yes, I'm nervous. I'm a homeowner, too, and certainly don't want to become a statistic. I've been fortunate thus far to have developed longevity, proven my worth, and having some important connections in the company. However, I don't rely on these things alone. I'm relying on faith and knowing that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. This isn't the first time I've been faced with the possibility of losing my job with this company, and it may not be the last time. I applied for a position within the company a couple of weeks ago, and a lot of people are pulling for me to get it. But, I'm also actively applying for jobs outside the company and have been for some time. I'm not afraid to leave this company and work someplace else, but I'm obviously concerned about having employment and being able to pay my mortgage.

I know there are several of you out there without jobs and that are looking. Don't give up. You are not the only ones feeling this frustration. I've also been looking for secondary part-time work and will continue to do so.

I do appreciate your prayers and positive thoughts. This is a difficult time for our country, and I'm hopeful that our president-elect will be intelligently guided for the nation's economic benefit.<<

Thanks for sharing this. Your message is spot on.

And Phillippians 4:13 is one of my favorite Scripture passages. ;)
