Something to be Thankful for.....

Thought we might all take a minute and say what we are Thankful for in our lives. I love Thanksgiving because its not about religion - just about people being happy to be around other people. :) That always brings me joy.

I am thankful for: my family, DH and two kids. Our health and our jobs. Our parents. Their ability to help babysit our kids so we can work. My siblings - and the closeness we've shared since becoming adults. Our crazy new dog whom we sometimes hate b/c he pees on my carpet but is just so doggone cute you can't help but forgive him. For good friends who know what we need and when we need it.

I'm thankful for the accountability I feel due to this board. Keeps me humble and makes me feel less alone in the world.

On a selfish note - I am thankful for French Silk pie.

Oh so much to be thankful for....even though it is not thanks giving here. Religion or not. I'm thankful!!

Happy, healthy kids.
Great relationship with my ex husband.
A good business that gives me a job.
Good friends that say what I need to hear when I need to hear it.
Ability to pay down debt
Low interest on my debt
Good parents
A great sister
A sexy smart boyfriend with a great job and great sense of humor and an amazing work ethic.

I get down on myself because of my debt--I need to think about the above more often to cheer me up!

Cultivating an "attitude of gratitude" is one of the most important things in life, and I wish I were doing a better job of passing that along to my children. Maybe this Thanksgiving is a good time to start it - perhaps when we say grace before dinner.

I start and end most days being grateful. Ending the day with gratitude is easy - I have a supercomfy bed, and when I get into bed, I'm always grateful for my bed, LOL! That usually leads to being grateful for the oil to heat the house (there was a time when that was tenuous), for teenage daughters who are home at night instead of running around & for my 8yo boy who is sleeping sweetly across the hall, for a darling hubby who snores fit to raise the roof sometimes, for good work to do the next day, for the time I had that day, and for a God who loves me. If I'm awake enough, I start the day with gratitude as well - that my many aches and pains are generally getting better, that I have a good job to go to (if it's a weekday) or a family to cook breakfast for (if it's a weekend), for a nice hot shower to get into, and sometimes that I woke up at all!

And on Thanksgiving I'll be grateful that my extended family is pretty normal and we all have a good time together. It wasn't always this way, and I'm grateful that I get to host Thanksgiving and that everyone is looking forward to coming together for that day. In fact, they like it so much that they're staying til the next day!

I am Thankful for my twins, who are healthy. My husband and for my parents being alive. I am thankful for our home (we have a roof over our heads) and food on our table. I am also thankful for my health, for my part-time job. And my Yorkie.
