SIGH...

I just would like to have a hubby to have by my side when I go through this. I am so tired of looking at this alone.

To add another line to my whine.....

For the last year I have tried to get a job closer to home.

Make him pay you if you are going to work for him with a few breakfasts in bed But for tax reasons make him pay you too. You can always give him the money back.

Well I am glad it is settled for you. Now you can work forward and build that practice up without looking back

I think you definitely need to talk to an accountant if you are thinking of having him issue you a 1099.

You should definitely get an accountant.

You absolutely need to retain an attorney and accountant if your husband is going to set up his own firm.

I am a partner in an LLC (limited liability company), and I am amazed at the tax rules. I would NEVER try to do this without the advice of someone who completely knows the tax rules for the kind of small business we are. Ditto for the attorney.

A key element of being in business for yourself is minimizing risk - don't skimp on hiring professionals who can minimize the risks that aren't related to actually doing business. Your husband will be taking enough risk in that regard!
