Nothing to be "sorry" about.

Sorry to hear of your struggles Becky! Keep your chin up! I don't really have any advice for you, but I just wanted you to know I am thinking of you and your family.

There’s something called personal responsibility.

In this day and age -- one or two days of lost wages CAN make or break A LOT of people's financial picture. A lot of people are relying on every single penny they are bringing in to pay their bills and feed their families. It's simple how things are right now. It is what it is. Plain and simple. I've been in that situation -- we are doing far better now, but I've been in a sitauation where the loss of a day or two wages could cause us to be extremely short on our bills.

Wow. Way to be a wee bit supportive. Did you miss the name of the board? "Debt Support Group". You may not agree with her choices, but dang... try and have a little compassion. We're all doing the best we can in this day and age. She's been through a long lay off with her dh and is struggling with a child who will need SPINAL surgery in a few months. How can she care for a child who is having spinal surgery AND work? I've had spinal surgery and you need someone to help you complete simple tasks like using the bathroom your first few weeks. Her daughter is for a long hard recovery and can not do it alone.

We've all been in a bad situation where we were struggling to pay this bill or that bill. Instead of being harsh (I can assure you, she's already feeling like crap as it is....) perhaps we could simply offer a hug or a kind word.
