Shower Explosion!

There is a baby shower explosion happening in my world~ !
First off, my sister is pregnant with her third child and due in March. I will probably get her something after her baby is born. So excited to become an aunt again. I am a rock star auntie!
My neighbor friend is pregnant with her second and due in March. I am having a conflict w/her pregnancy b/c her family decided to throw her another baby shower. I am all for celebrating babies 2,3,4 etc but my neighbor had her first child at 19 and didn't keep any of the gifts (stroller, bouncer seat, high chair) that she should have for subsequent children. I am her friend and will probably get her a baby outfit once her baby is due but I am NOT spending enough to get her a bouncer or something. She keeps mentioning about getting more things and I've commented once or twice (in a nicer way) that these people ALREADY bought her gifts. Just b/c she was younger and didn't know enough to keep them (not saying everyone who has babies young isn't smart - don't read into this people) isn't everyone elses problems.
Next is my neighbor a few doors down who moved away. She is pregnant with twins. We don't really talk anymore (an occasional email b/c she's on bedrest now) but I am invited to her shower. Honestly, I don't want to go and I don't have money to give a gift for twins.
Lastly is my daughter's godfather's wife. (my husbands co-worker.) She is pregnant with twins. I know we will be invited to her shower in a few months and I fully expect to get her something nice. ($30-$40 range.)
Ok, we are also trying to save up to go to a wedding for my close friend in Boston

My advice.
Stacy - I *love* that idea.
All my best,

I think you answered your own questions. :) I would do what you WANT to do. You said in each circumstance what you want to do and that's exactly what I would do. If you want to send a card to the former neighbor to let her know you were unable to make the shower, do so. Otherwise, RSVP and let it go. If your other neighbor has family willing to restock her kiddo needs, let them do so and do what you would like to do within your budget and with a glad heart.

I like the pasta basket idea OR my favorite gifts in the whole wide world were packs of diapers & wipes.
I'm kind of practical like that but even just one basic

How about making up a coupon booklet on your computer-coupons for things like a few hours babysitting, or some help with housecleaning or cooking, etc
I just wanted to add something about the 19 year old on her second baby. I know the traditional custom is to only have 1 shower or to not expect much on your next children, BUT there are many circumstances that can change this. I was 19 when I had my first and because I was so young it took my 5 years until I

I love, love, love the website you referred to!! I will need some gifts for a colleague who is expecting and would love to make bibs and burp cloths. Call me silly, but I was unable to view the tutorials. I'm not so techno-savvy, I guess.
