Oh I love to get things on sale!! or at a reduced price.
I just gave x-mas gifts to my boys teachers. I like to give them a bit early because they get so swamped with gifts soon. Anyway, I made the chocolates I make every year with molds I have had for years. Probably cost about $1 for the chocolate, $1.00 for the can I put them in, and last year I bought the cutest little santa pic frames for .44 cents each and gave them with it. I always reuse and keep gift bags so they got a recyled/reused gift bag. And I was worried too because both of the kids teachers are men. Which is really weird they both have men at the same time and they are harder to get cheap little gifts for. So two gifts for 5 bucks is not to shabby!
The meat: I was once at Costco(Sam's club in the states) and I asked the butcher about a roast that was reduced in price. I said "is this really ok to feed my family?" and he said if I was taking a roast home that is the one I would take because it is aged and has the best flavor and will be the moistest. The only reason it is on sales is because of the regulations we have to follow regarding dates. I was thrilled, it was the best roast I have ever cooked! I always look for meat like that now. I am assuming it would be the same for steaks.
I have never heard of a spiral ham. It sounds yummy. I hope it goes on sale for you!
