3 pay cycles in Janauary

I get paid every two weeks and I just realized that in Janaury I wil be having 3 pay cycles instead of the standard 2 because of the way the weeks fall out. This happens 2x a year and I couldn't be happier that it is happening in January! It will help pay off some Christmas bills and also generate A LOT of snowflakes to help kick off the 2009 Snowflake Challenge.

Does this happen for anyone else? It will work out if you get paid every other Friday starting on January 2nd!

I also get 3 paychecks in January. However, last time this happened (October or whatnot) the three paycheck thing screwed me up somehow and I was "behind" my normal schedule by not paying my bills like I normally do. With the first check of the month I pay most of our bills - credit cards, car payments, association dues, etc. and with the last paycheck of the month I pay our mortgage and cell phone bills. When it seems we get a "extra" paycheck and I use that for something other than bills it seems like I get myself messed up.

Don't ask me how I do this. But I do.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that we get 5 paydays next month (paid weekly).

DH is paid every Wednesday, and it just happened that we had five checks in December. What a fabulous month to get an extra paycheck (we pay cash for Christmas)! =c) I freelance and get paid whenever I finish a job, so the magic only comes to DH, LOL. I'm with you, though -- it's great to have an extra paycheck!

I don't want to rain on your news but just remember that in February the first check will fall late in the month.

Mary Ann,

Thanks for the reminder but I do have that covered. I plan our budget out 3 months in advance but tweak it monthly to make sure everthing is covered because inevitably thing like weird credit card due dates always happen! This time around at least it truly will be money for snowflaking and catching up on a few small things.
