Ahh good for you for not buying something just for the sake of having SOMETHING extra under the tree - honestly for me that takes a lot of willpower sometimes mostly because I just really enjoy the experience shopping even though I KNOW and have learned over the years that STUFF does not necessarily make me happier - especially if it adds to debt!
I had the same experience the first weekend of December. I had already decided what we were getting the kids and bought it online (free shipping, no tax!), but I figured it's nice to see some stuff in person that you didn't think of getting. DH and I went to a huge mall, walked around for an hour, and bought not one thing. We weren't Grinches for Christmas - 16yo DD is getting an iPod, 14yo DD is getting a bunch of smaller things that she asked for (books & stuff), 8yo DS is getting some Legos and video games and movies and things from the Discovery store - but there just wasn't anything that we wanted or needed to buy.
I've been feeling the same way myself lately.
Good for you, Danni! I felt the same way when we went shopping on Black Friday. Lots of junk for lots of cash.
