New Year's Goals/ Resolutions

I haven't really posted on here since my intro, but I feel very good about what the new year has in store (because I know that it is up to me to control what happens, and now I am sure I can).

I don't usually make New Year's resolutions, but I thought this year I would make some goals.

I also would love to lose 10 lbs, and I have been wondering what to do with that jar of butter chicken sauce in my cupboard. I am loving my crock pot this year too! Nothing fits and I would love to fit into my nice skinny clothes. Not going to be tonight though..........seafood and beer and hot tub is on my agenda. I have started walking outside(getting my butt moving) and I am liking it but it is so cold outside!

Ahhhh resolutions. I really don't overspend, and I know I can't take a real vacation this year so I don't need to save for that........

Ummm probably get my emergency fund up and I would love to not get deeper in debt, and if I do I would like to get out of it by the end of the year. LOL. We will see, maybe I will be more optomistic in April.

Happy new year!!

My goals for 2009

#1 - make and stick to a budget.

#2 - keep my filing up to date(at least weekly) (instead of tossing it at filing cabinet and sorting it all out the weekend I do taxes)

#3 - getting our CC's and LOC's down to a managable level.

#4 - pay extra towards our mortgage

#5 - pay cash for a short holiday (3-4 days somewhere no one can find us and no cell phone service lol)

All these I believe are attainable for us. I have bought a book by Gail Vaz-Oxlade to give me a bit of a push start. I like to watch her show, she has some good ideas and most of her plans seem very doable. I watch alot of the debt reduction shows, some seem a bit too extreme for my taste.

Hi Bex,

I just wanted to reply to your thread because I saw that you said you were going to Australia for a month (IMHO New Zealand is better!! lol) and that the estimated cost was $4000.

Last year I went on a trip to Australia (flights and accommodation were paid for by my dad) for 1 week and for 3 people (2 adults 1 child) we spent close to $4000 (Australian).
