My biggest accomplishment for 2008 was shaving 2.5 years off our mortgage. I really want that paid off before DH turns 65, though we could end up selling before then. I can't even think about 30 years from now. We are down to 15.

1) I QUIT SMOKING FOR THE WHOLE, ENTIRE YEAR!!!:)

2) I graduated from the master's program and got a f/t job!

2) Paid down the majority of our credit card debt (about $8500)...

3) Joined crown mvelopes (well, subscribed to it) and made a spending plan that has been super instrumental in our debt reduction!

Here's to 2009:)

We survived DH's layoff and subsequent job loss. We have FINALLY gotten back on track with our bills. We have learned to live on less money -- we've done such a good job at all this that I was able to leave a job where I wasn't happy to take a different job.

I vow to try and put a little money in savings in 2009 -- even if it's only $50/month. I want SOMETHING in there. We spent all of 2008 trying to keep our head above water from month to month. Now that things have settled down, I'd like to try and do that.

I also want to be able to buy a car outright before this year is over. Doesn't have to be anything special -- just something in decent shape that doesn't have a car payment attached to it!

We actually accomplished a lot in 2008. I was reminiscing the other day. My husband got a new job making more money (about 10,000+ dollars more) and it's closer to home. He had been commuting an hour and a half each way for 2 years! That was awful!

We payed off our 3rd credit card. The balance was around 7,000 dollars. Now we only have 1 more credit card left and a few other minor bills.

I increased my income by about 50 dollars a week. I took on more piano students and raised my prices.

I can't think of much else, but I feel good about last year and what we accomplished. I know that I'm going to feel even greater about this year as I'm confident this is the year we will finish paying off all our immediate debt.

Paid off the rest of our credit card debt, the car and the 4 wheeler.

Put away 4 months of expenses in the emergency fund.

Became friends with the mailbox (those of you who have hidden debt know exactly what I'm talking about). :-)

Finally learned to be comfortable not carrying a checkbook.
