I posted last week about filing bankruptcy and DH and I have come up with a plan to avoid that, hopefully.

DH is paid salaried & commission and the numbers I am using are based on the lowest net income as well as my lowest income.

Hello and welcome to the board if I haven't done that before.

I would call your auto insurance and see if they can give you a discount on your auto insurance Many do if you are member of AAA or something like that. If that doesn't work then I would ask what the amount would be if you upped your deductible to the next level. Also many insurance companies will give you a large discount if you bundle your homeowners and auto together. That may help you out with your house payment as well as auto insurance.

I know that you said that you put 150.00 away for your Gas and lights but don't use it. Another way you could do this is call your Gas company and have them to do an averaging on you. This may bring you in a few dollars a month. Then when your income starts going up you can get out of this plan and go back to doing the budgeting yourselves.

I have been there. If you can avoid bankruptcy, do it. You seem to have it worked out.

We were pretty poor with two little ones but, probably because we didn't have any money, we did a lot of things together outside (walking, biking, going to the park, picnics)as well as inside (going to the library or playing at McDonald's on rainy days...in fact we'd scrounge together change for a cup of coffee so the kids could play). That is what they remember now that they are teens. They have no recollection of not having cable TV and not going to movies. In fact, one thing they both stress is that they are grateful they didn't have TV growing up because they are much more creative than their friends. They both remember their childhood as being very rich. All your DS needs from you is your love and attention.

Good luck to you. You can do this!

Thank you both for your understanding.

I am going to look into the Angel Ministries.

I will go over my cell phone plan and try to lower it.

I've wondered if filing would be better too.
