I know it's bad when I am counting out quarters to fill up my gas tank to get me through to pay day!

Almost every work day I go to the store across the street to get a soda and maybe a pack of peanut butter crackers. When I get back to the office I toss the change in a little cup into my desk drawer. I know it's getting bad when I empty that cup into a baggie to bring home and roll. Melissa

No that is a good thing taking the coins home to roll. That means you are starting to have some savings.

I started with 7 pennies many years ago.

I guess I should have elaborated...I take the change home, roll it and put it in the bank...to cover something getting ready to bounce or to help scrape up the minimum payment on something. Some months (especially the ones when the water bill or trash bill comes due) get a lot tougher than the other months.

Honestly... as long as everything is paid and we have food in the cupboads, I try not to look at it as "bad". Bad is relative, I guess. I've been through some really BAD times finanically and I figure it's not "bad" as long as you have a roof over your head, food on your table and gas in your car to get to work. A few days before payday (like today), I often take pop cans back (we have a 10 cent deposit on them), or I'll dig through the change in the jar for enough to buy milk. It may seem "bad", but in a few days it'll be payday and we'll be ok!

I count my change all the time near the end of the pay period.

Last year I started paying my water bill every month. It was averaging $72 a quarter, so I started using my online bill pay to send the water bureau $25 a month. Now I don't get get a quarterly "surprise" in the mail. It's much easier this way -- for me at least!

Brandee you just gave me an idea, lol.

I am TRYING to scrape together $70 dollars for the 19th (I am playing in an organized sports league --> Didn't realize when I said I would that the price DOUBLED from last year . . . ugh). At present time I have exactly $3.00 saved :(

I do however have a ton of beer/ wine bottles collecting in my garage from various parties I've had (people bring their own alcohol and leave the bottles). At $0.10 per beer bottle and $0.20 per wine bottle, I bet I have about $5-10 sitting in there!

Now I just need to come up with

I know it is bad when it is the Sunday before payday, and I have already spent all of the cash I need for groceries, yet come to find that I need more milk, bread, eggs (you name it...anything kids go through in short order), and I have to charge the $20 or take another $20 out of the bank.

I know its bad when I can't sleep. Usually that happens when I calculate the numbers the day before and it looks really bleak. I need to stop doing that though.........I just don't know how?
