Hi all, I would appreciate thoughts on this.

Today I went off my spending plan and bought a treadmill. I know I know, not necessary, but I got a great clearance deal (I got it at cost - the store misordered and is trying to clear them out ---> Normally priced at $1599 on sale for $479!)

To make up for it, I am going to give up my gym membership. Here is my question. I have the ability to transfer my membership to someone. I am locked in at $16.96 biweekly. If I transfer to someone they will get that same rate. The same gym now charges $29.99 biweekly plus enrollment fees (transfer means no fees for the user either).

My bf thinks I should "sell" the membership, meaning that someone would pay me to get the low rate. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I realize that I would be going out of my way to transfer (I'm not locked into a contract so its not like I'm trying to get out of anything) but is that ethical? What do you think?

I wouldn't do it myself. If you have a friend who wants it, transfer it to your friend. That's a great gift. Otherwise, let it go.

The treadmill will pay for itself in time. It's not just the cost of your membership, but gas, time, and special outfits you might wear to the gym. Who cares what you wear at home, KWIM?
