In one of the better parts of Louisville, where homes are priced around 400,000 or more They are building a new Shopping Mall. Nothing special about this idea right.
The Anchor store in the mall instead of a Walmart or one of the big department store chains is going to be a super Goodwill store. Seems

Mary Ann -- Your posting was funny. I never would have thought of a Goodwill store anchoring a mall! In our town there is a mall that seems to be cursed. It has been nearly empty for years even though it is in a great location and very beautiful inside. It is the smallest mall in the area though, and people would drive right by it to get to bigger malls miles away. Anyway, they changed the name of the mall last year and tried to upgrade its image, but even more stores moved out! Now they are developing it into a mixed use facility with stores, businesses, a multiple screen cineplex, restaurants, and a multi-story hotel. I can't believe they are pouring more money into this place! Where do they think the people are going to come from to stay at the hotel? And there's a Regal cinema less than 2 miles away! And there's a recession going on! Oh, and the developers are getting BIG tax breaks, so the town won't even be making that much money off of it. I just shake my head at the stupidity of the government.

Maybe they should talk a Goodwill into moving into the mall. They think here that it will bring a lot of people to the mall. Maybe it will there too.

The last time I went to a mall was when I was on a mini trip to Grand Forks. The only reason I went was because my traveling companions wanted to go. I have gone to the thrift store a few times this year though. Maybe that is the key for developers? A sure sign of the times.
