2009 Paycheck Smaller Due to Deductions

I just looked at my first bi-weekly paycheck of the year. It is $6 less than my last paycheck because of increases in the cost of health insurance, dental, etc. Because it included one week of 2008 and one week of 2009, I have a feeling that my next paycheck will be even less, maybe $9 less than I was getting last year. That's $18/month. This means I'm going to have to redo my budget. The only thing I can do is cut the grocery budget (currently $50/wk) or cancel my newspaper subscription ($20/month). I guess I'm going on a diet!

I had the same thing happen to me. Last year my cost of living kicked in the same pay period that my CPP contributions were maxed (meaning I didn't have to pay them for the last 6 or so pay periods). In January, the started again at their new high rate. So now my check is down $90 every two weeks :(

I knew it was coming so I was still budgeting based on my old checks and using surplus for Christmas. I REALLY wish I had that money back!

My first 2009 paycheck isnt until the 15th...so...fingers crossed!

(the only good thing is that on the 16th I leave for Florida for a week....3 days with my parents (shouldnt have any expenses) and then 4 days of business trip (every expense should be 100% reimbursed)

He paid $35/pay check for his health ins, so I expted his check to be $35 since he doesn't have it through his work anymore but it seemed like it was only $16 more.
