There is just so much talk about debt everywhere here lately and I have been watching "money problem" shows all day long. I think it finally got to me and I cant sleep and I just have so much anxiety about debt and money right now. Im so afraid I'll end up like these people on tv or Im afraid me and SO will never get "ahead". I will feel so much better when I can use this tax return to pay some of this off. We don't have much but

I am a big believer in taking action on the things you can do something about and ignoring things you can't do anything about.
You cannot do anything about the economy or other people's debt. So learn what you NEED to know about the things that will directly affect you by listening to/reading intelligent sources, and turn off the TV when it gets to other people's sob stories and talking heads saying the same things over and over. You will not make yourself feel any better about anything if you listen to speculation and the problems of people you don't know.
Don't fret endlessly about the future. You have one little child, and it is not the most important thing in the world to live in a house that the bank owns, vs one that someone else owns. This recession will not last forever, your child will most likely not be hungry, jobs will change, your child will grow up, and life will go on.
I didn't buy a house until I was 43yo, and I didn't get out of debt until I was 45yo (and it was a LOT of debt - at one point over $100,000, NOT including my mortgage which I still have). But somehow I always had a great place to live in, happy children, a loving marriage, a good job, and a strong faith community. Debt is just one thing in the world - there is so much more to life than that.
