I'm new to this board and hoping someone can at least give me moral support to ease my mind, I have a huge HUGE amount of credit card debt(and of course no savings to speak of), which I am able to at least make the minimums with my husband working, he's in construction so I've just been waiting for the axe to drop with the way the economy is, there is no jobs out there and he only had about a few months more on the existing job, now we get hit with him being out of work because of his heart, he had a heart attack 4 years ago at age 39, and now they think he needs to go back in hospital....I'm so stressed over how to pay the bills with him not working whether it's due to unemployment or disability......I know he needs to be my main concern but I can't help feeling overwhelmed with it all now medical bills with go along with credit card bills.... any suggestions, ideas, prayers???

Prayers...I think you probably need a lot of prayers. My suggestion is that you get out there and look at all your options. If your husband is not working and you can get disability or unemployement, whatever you can get, sign up for it. Sign up for the food program, for the medicaid program. If you have kids, you can sign up for WIC. This is what the government is for. For people who really need the help for a temporary time until they can get back on their feet. I've been to the hospital a few times and I know they've offered me a reduced price program, all I had to do was fill out the paperwork. There's so many programs out there, it's just finding them that becomes the problem. It's time consuming and when you're already under stress, the last thing you want to do is fill out paperwork. But imagine if you could get some help with your heating bill, with your food bill, with your medical bills. Life would be so much easier. I know what the construction industry is like. I grew up in the construction industry. One year when the economy was really bad (1990's) my dad got a herniated disc in his back. He couldn't work and even if he could work, there wasn't much work out there. It's tough out there. Good luck...and keep your spirits up.

You do have a lot of worries on your plate, but if it helps at all, try to remember that they can't put you in debtor's prison; yes it's unpleasant to be broke, but you are not the first person to work your way through this situation and you won't be the last.

From a lady that also has a husband with a bad heart just a few things you guys need to do this weekend if it is not to late.

Go on the net and get the forms for a living will and power of attorney for health. Have them made out and notarized Then when he goes into the hospital even it is for simple test you can give a copy to the hospital to be put in his file.

Another thing make out your credit card payments for the next week or so
