You may find that you'll get even more channels with the converter box once the channels are required to transmit in the digital signal. Right now, stations are still allowed to transmit in analog. So, you might be pleasantly surprised when Feb 17th comes!

I have an HDTV with no Cable, and definitely no HD. We have rabbit ears hooked up and only get one channel. ABC. I believe that since I have one of those newer TV's, that I don't need a digital converter box. But who knows! I just figured that if February rolled around and all of a sudden we didn't get our 1 channel, I'd just order cable. I figure by then we should be caught up enough to afford it. I think there is a basic cable package for 10 dollars a month that would give us channels 2-25 or something. What a pity though to have this fabulous HDTV and to not have HD. Sacrifices!!!

You can purchase an HD set of "rabbit ears" and it will pick up any HD local channels.

Also, most of the bottom line cable packages do NOT include HD channels. We pay a little more to receive our HD channels (which are totally different looking than regular channels! The clarity is AMAZING!).

I was just reading about Trooper Dante because of your signature and I am just so sad! How awful to have to deal with cancer in a small child. It breaks your heart...

I wouldn't worry... if your TV was not getting DTV stations, you would be constantly bombarded with a scrolling ticker on your screen saying "You are not recieving DTV signals.
