Update on MIL heart attack

I guess she was feeling chest pains last night. So bad that she thought she was going to die, but as a typical woman, she took an aspirin and when she started feeling better, she went to sleep. She woke up and the pains were still there and there was pain in her arm. It was throbbing. She was going to wait it out until Monday, but she told her husband and he took her to the ER. She had a mild heart attack. They ran tests but haven't been able to find much except a heart murmur. Tomorrow she will do a stress test and depending on those results they will decide on a course of action. It has really got me thinking about my husband though. His father was diagnosed with diabetes at 47 and now his mom has a heart attack at 50. Maybe that means heart disease, who knows...but DH really needs to get healthier. We are only 30 and we could be where his parents are right now in 20 years with high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, taking medications every day, if we don't take our health more seriously. We are not great specimens of health here.

Glad to hear that she is doing okay. SHe probably saved her own life by taking that aspirin believe it or not. That is usually the first thing paramedics will give someone when they have chest pain along with nitro.

I have the same feelings about my husbands health, he is 36, has high cholesterol and his father had quadruple bypass when he was only 42. So I am always worried about things like that.

Abbie, I'm glad to hear that she is okay! Heart attacks scare the you-know-what out of me because they NEVER present like they do on tv!! The symptoms can be so vague!

Uhhhgggg.....this is such a tough one for me. My Ex's family has terrible health history. Diabetes, heart disease etc etc etc. My mom has trouble with her kidneys. And my Ex is really over weight. So I in turn worry about my kids. I just try to feed them properly when I am have them. That is all I can do really. I am not healthy either really, but I try to eat well and exercise. I hope my kids see that as a positive example, if not now, when they are older.

GL. Glad to hear it was minor and I hope she has a speedy recovery!
