This post is NOT just about the movie . . . I do plan to see it, and I've read most of the books in the series - V. FUNNY and SO TRUE!

So, here goes. I've been spending a lot on myself lately. I got a nice Christmas bonus and spent it all - on some needs and some wants. Granted, at least the things I bought were with cash and not added to my debt, but I know it's now the time to just stop.

I don't know what it is. I'll go for a long time being frugal and behaving myself, then WHAM! (not the group, although I had a wild crush on Andrew Ridgely when I was in the 7th grade). It hits me and I start spending. I'm pretty much done with it for the time being, but I'm just frustrated. I already know my job is in jeopardy, I owe some debt, and I'm trying to save to pay for the wedding. Then, I get stupid and start spending.

I've just found out today what my pay increase is for 2009, so I'm going to start saving that difference automatically from each paycheck. I can't say enough how frustrating it is when these spending binges hit me. Of course, the good deals the marketplace has had over the holidays doesn't help. Ok, it wasn't quite THAT bad, but bad enough to make me feel like a heel and a backtracker.

I also decided to put to good use my new smaller wallet and not carry anything but my debit card and one major credit card which I rarely use and that's it. I'm not even taking my Borders rewards card with me b/c it is too easy for me to buy new books. I even tho't of working there to earn extra money, but I'm afraid I'd just spend it on books. =(

The other good news is that I've been doing REALLY well about not going to the supermarket until I really need to. Yes, I've still bought a couple of extras at each trip, but my only going to market three times in one paycheck is like a small miracle for me.

Cheers to the New Year and may all our Debt resolutions come true!

I am not a huge shopper, but sometimes................if the right sales are on or there are clothes every where that I like.......it can be a problem!! At least you didn't use the CCs.

Good luck on your wedding prep!
