and I still haven't gone to Target! YIPPPEEE. That is my biggest weakness. I will go in for one little thing and walk out with $150 worth of things. I do have to figure out where the best place to purchase my daughters diapers and formula is. Do you think buying that stuff at a wholesale store like Sams Club or BJ's would be cheaper?

Have you ever read about Elimination Communication? That might save you a bit on diapers.... :-)

Anyway, congratulations. You are doing fabulous!!! Think of all the money you didn't blow on unnecessary items! You should be proud of yourself!!

Nevermind, I just googled it. That would be impossible for me. I work 45 hours a week and my daughter goes with my sister in law when I am working, I don't think that would be something feasible for us. It is interesting.

Buying diapers at wholesale clubs is definitely cheaper. I think the last time I went, I got a super duper box (club brand) with over 200 diapers for 30 dollars. The pampers/huggies brand was almost 40 for the same box. My membership just expired and I don't quite have the 40 bucks for the next years membership, but I'm saving up for it because many things were cheaper there. When my 3rd was first born, I actually did cloth diapers. I was really apprehensive at first but I had always wanted to try it so I just did it and it was actually pretty easy during the newborn/baby stage. But once the solid foods started and the real poops came along, it wasn't quite as easy. So now I'm back to disposables. I cloth diapered for about 8 months and I tried every single kind. You may want to try 1800diapers.com as well. They tend to be pretty competetive and they have free shipping right now. You'll never even have to walk into a store that way! Also - I'm planning on potty training as soon as possible. I bought a book with my second son called 'potty train in a day'. You can start potty training at 18 months with girls, sometimes earlier. Boys take longer as with everything, but I'm going to start at 18 months this time, OH CRAP...I just realized that's only 3 months away! The book really helped me because I was totally clueless. To give you an idea...my firstborn wasn't potty trained until 4 and neither was my second. This time around, I will not be potty training that late. I just didn't know any better. I had no idea you could potty train so early. I had no idea there were techniques to this thing, so I just waited until they were ready and it was a fight. But diapers are so expensive, and really bad for the environment so I'm going to try to get rid of them soon!

Congrats on not going to Target! Huge accomplishment to keep ourselves out of stores, but it's the best plan of action!

Abbie,

Have you considered finding a friend/neighbor/family member to split the discount warehouse cost with? Sometimes you can get two cards. If you split the cost - that will work for you.

I buy diapers in bulk at a warehouse club too. I buy the generic diapers the place sells and then I buy one box of regular name brand for Nighttime. Otherwise, my DD pees through her night diapers. She is going to turn 2 next month and I am determined to potty train her soon. My son didn't "get it" until he was just turning 3. I can't wait to get rid of diapers!!!
