Need some input not relating to debt...

So my husband and I have decided to have my daughter baptised (yes she is going to be 8 months on Monday, but we took our time deciding if we were going to).

Anyway, the church called us today and asked us if they could use her as the "special" baby for the Easter Eve mass and that will be when she is baptised. We of course said yes, because if not we would have to wait even longer. Here is my question, we were planning on doing a breakfast/brunch if it was on a Sunday morning, but because it will be on the Saturday night around 6 or 7 that idea is out.

So do you think it's weird if we did a dinner before the baptism? Had everyone meet at a restaurant have dinner and than go to the church? I really don't want to do after because Emily is usually asleep by 7pm so we will be pushing it anyway.

Any input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks Liz

I don't think it's weird at all.

I was laughing earlier thinking of her running down the aisles with the priest chasing after her trying to pour the holy water over her head! It's nice that she will be the only baby getting baptised at that time though, so I am looking forward to it. Thanks for your input.

I think dinner before would be perfect.

Whatever works for your family should be just fine. Since the Easter Vigil mass is *long* (often 2+ hours), make sure everyone is well-fed first, but that they don't drink too much alcohol. ;)

My niece was baptized when she was 1yo, and my best friend is just now thinking of baptizing her daughter - who is 7yo, and ASKED for it after my friend took her to church for the first time. :)

I'm just thinking about those who would be participating in Holy Communion and fasting.

Just have to jump in here and say the fasting won't be a problem.

That's probably why most families baptizing babies don't select Easter evening services.
