at first it was a no brainer, we would just spend it all on our debt. but now its like but we need this and we need to do this. now we might even have to spend a little on bills bc DF missed a couple of days at work and then ofcourse we want to put SOMETHING into savings. i just dont know the best way to divide this all up

I would do 25% on the bills if it is snowflaking, 50% into saving since your husband is missing hours. It could be worse later and you will need the saving more. Then blow the other 25% on things you really need not want.

Wow I wish I had this problem ;)
Its hard to give advice without knowing the specifics. If your DH being short on hours was due to illness and this is not something that happens regularly then I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Not sure what the size of the refund is, but here is what I would do.
1) If you're not already, make sure you are current on everything
2) If you don't have an efund use it to create one with $1000 in it
3) Divy the remainder up (after efund is funded) 25% fun money and 75% debt.
This way you really hit everything!
Good luck!

Do you have any kind of savings? I'm watching around me as so many people are losing hours. Fortunately, they aren't losing their jobs, but losing hours keeps them from keeping up with bills and can have quite a snowball effect. With some savings set aside, you won't be in such a pinch in the future.
I'd put at least 50% into savings.
