I found a huge fleece blanket at Liquidation World yesterday in a big box of fleece blankets marked $9.99. This one was way nicer than the rest of them and someone had taken off the packaging and labels. I couldn't find any more like it in the store. When I got to the checkout I said where I got it and asked how much it was. It was $44.99. Way too much money for me to spend on a blanket that I don't need, it would have been frivolous...add to that the fact that it was at Liquidation World and the packaging was gone and it was a bit grubby. It should have been about $12.99 but I was not going to argue.
I've been really wanting to curl up in that blanket and snuggle. I went back today and searched and didn't find it until I was leaving, it was still sitting on the checkout counter where I left it yesterday. I looked again and I still like it and I considered asking today's cashier how much to see if I could get it for $9.99 but I know how dishonest that would be so I went home. I'm proud of myself for leaving it behind because I don't need it, but still, I'd love to curl up in it and it does sometime suck that I can't just buy whatever.
Kate, I'm in the same city and I hear you about cabin fever!!! I have a car, but have avoided going out as much as possible because of the traffic. I have been spending my days carting roomates and elderly people around to make sure they can get where they need to be! If you are ever truly stuck, feel free to email me and if I'm available I would gladly
I know you were venting KYmaiden, but this is a debt support group as opposed to a shopping support group.
I and my DH make a great income, our jobs are pretty secure, right now we are paying off debt we accumulated to prepare us for our kids college in a couple years.
I WILL say that one day. I AM DEBT FREE. I'm going to go to an empty field and scream it until I am done screaming it. Until then, I heard a phrase last year that I like. I think it related to dieting but can be used for debt too. It goes:
I will not sacrifice what I want in the future for what I want right now.

Bex -
Aw, shucks.
I'm sorry you had to pass on the rooster, but you know that rooster would have kept you up at nights! LOL
Yesterday, like you, I was looking for something to do.

Basically I don't shop - AT ALL.

I have this ticker thing I look at them all. You have done wonderful with paying down your credit cards. You should be so proud.
