I have read a lot on this board today(I was away from it for the weekend). Something is bothering me!

I believe it is important for both partners to have spending money. I am not seeing this on the postings lately. Am I missing something ladies or are you just not listing how much YOU have for spending money?

Please list what you think is appropriate for you and what you like to spend on??

sidebar: What did you do this weekend with your kids that was cheap? I'm curious!!!

ok, how much do I allot myself for fun money? Ummm......I don't really track it but I mostly spend my "fun" money on diet cokes from McDonald's. I get a few a week. Otherwise, most of my other spending is done on my kids. I will get them this and that's if we have extra money. About once a month I will go out to lunch with a friend from work. That is usually about $16.

I will buy myself stuff I need for work. I know that isn't "fun" for me but its something to buy myself. I just got myself new shoes and new black shirts for my second job.

What do I WANT to buy? Scrapbook stuff. And books. However, those are pipe dream purchases.

We aim for $20 each per week in spending $$. DH goes for coffee 4x a week with buddies, mine just sits until I use it on Booster Juice or the occasional lunch from the deli in the grocery store. Whatever I don't spend of it goes into the grandbaby's education fund.

We went to the library, got some books and played on the internet for awhile. I had coupons for McDonalds so that was not free but cheap(I had a diet coke and thought of you!). We watched a free movie from my store with microwave popcorn. We also got another movie working at home that I didn't think worked so that was like free. Made chocolate chip cookies together also and read some of the library book together. I painted the trim and baseboards in my bedroom with a $10 can of paint(mistint) I bought a while ago, my littlest helped with that a bit. I washed all our sheets And.....I put up my little Italian pictures in the kitchen(LOL I got 4 little pics of bread and pasta and vegetables at the thrift store for 40 cents each.) I cooked a $7.00 little chicken, made real gravy, mashed potatoes, and carrots. Both my BF and I took left overs for lunch today and there is still a bit to add to our supper tonight! So not too bad all in all, and very domestic of me I must say! LOL!

Oh, and spending money.....we get $200 a month spending money, no questions asked. Sometimes I spend mine, sometimes I put it towards debt or gifts. I would love to decorate more in my home but have trouble justifying it.

We're allotting ourselves $100/month in 2009. (Last year it was $200/month.) What we spend it on: tennis (him), retreats & toiletries (me), books, music, drinks with a friend, etc.

Good point about spending money. I've been finding that I need to budget it in or we'll go over-budget and what's the point of that? We do make decent money so should enjoy ourselves a little bit! DH gets $100 every payday and finally believes me that that is it until the next payday (major accomplishment!). I tend to not take out any cash, but I use my mileage reimbursement, money from eBay and Amazon sales, and the money DD repays me each month after I pay her cell phone as my "mad" money. I probably spend about as much as DH, but I rarely take money out of the bank. I mostly spend it on things for the house but occasionally on gifts and/or the rare snack when I'm at work or at a class.

I go out for lunch with friends about once per month. Every six weeks my girlfriends and I have our "friendship potluck". We all bring some food and drinks and get together for some girl time. If my dh is working I have to pay for a sitter for the night. I put aside $25.00 a week for clothes for myself. We are working on doing some renovations, so I am okay with not having much personal money. DH and I never really question each other on our personal spending. As long as our bills are getting paid and we have saved for our long-term and short-term goals, it's all good.

In our family my husband gets a 100.00 a month but he rarely spends it all What he doesn't spend when the next 100.00 comes out goes in the get away fund and he starts over.

Me well I never go out alone, and I control the money so I watch what I spend. I do not give myself

We literally do not have spending money for ourselves, and, speaking for myself, I don't miss it. DH has expressed the same thing -- it's just not important to us. Does that mean that we never buy anything? No. He carries the debit card for the bank acct that we pay our mortgage out of in his wallet, and that mortgage is his #1 priority. I know that he won't swipe that card anywhere until he feels like it's really important, and he hasn't used it yet. As for me, most of my "extra" is for the house, although I'll buy books on ebay every now and then. In that case, it comes out of surplus grocery money and it's tracked as "leisure" in my budget. From spring through fall, we spend an extra $50/mo on gas for the boat, but that comes out of the gas money budget and we manage to fit it into the usual allotment. Snacks for the boat come from the grocery budget. So, basically if we need something we squeeze it out of an area that we're under for the month, but we don't make a point of having it there to spend on "something". We're used to it and we've become quite comfortable working that way. =c)
