I am so mad this afternoon - yesterday I had my first NSF charge from the bank ever.

Try not to beat yourself up about it. Not only have I done that exact same thing (well, put it through my joint account instead of my personal, making my joint overdrawn and HUGE fees), I once bounced a cheque by $0.50. I was doing my calculations by hand and made a math error. I called the bank and tried to argue "wasn't it clear that I had simply made a math error, and you'd make that money back with my next direct-deposit paycheque? Charge me an overdraft fee and let it through?" I lost, both the arguement and simply with fees: both my bank and who I wrote the cheque to charged me a cheque-bounce fee.
I am confused though because you say NSF charge but they didn't return the cheque. They put it through? Have you debated getting overdraft?
I know, I know, many people think overdraft is evil. I think it is a matter of discipline and finding the right one: my bank only charges if you use it ($5 plus interest, but even if I've had to pay interest, it comes to less than $40 for NSF) and I can pretend I don't have it. When I make

Today has went better - (not that I got the $60.00 back in NSF) but the seller of the shoes refunded me the amount that I paid through a paypal credit and then she gave me a credit if $9.00 to mail the shoes back - she said she was adding a little extra because it shouldn't take $9.00 for my inconvience - I thought that was nice of her.
