I am already feeling like I am never going to be able to make any progress with this snowflaking this year. My totals now are already higher than they were Jan1. Some days I can roll with it and other days I seriously feel like I am fighting

You can do it.
Carolyn,
Thank you so much for your message - it was exactly what I needed this morning. I have been in FL for a week on a cheap stay with my parents vacation - I am home now and have one more day off before going back to work - I have been sitting here feelign quite bummed out doing bills for the month and recalculating things.
I really aprreciate the encouragement!
It's up to you if you want to update the numbers starting with Jan. as it's still early in the year and there will be some tweaking going on I'm sure at the end of this month.
If you just want to leave it and give me the new total as the "New debt total" one, we can do it that way too.
I can totally relate to your feeling everything is unmanageable -- I'm so there!

First of all, congrats on recognizing the problem. Sometimes it drives me batty when people will justify just about anyting as "needs" rather then what they really are: "wants". The fact that you have recognized this is a HUGE step.
As I mentioned to another poster, you need to set yourself up for success. Figure out what your triggers are and work with them. In my case, I love to eat out and I LOVE pizza (love love love it!). I had an old bread maker sitting in my closet that I hadn't used. One day I pulled it out and tried making my own dough. It was awesome. Now BF and I have a pizza night once a week where we make our own for a fraction of what it would cost to order. Something like this may help your eating out cravings. Homemade pizza and a bottle of wine is as good as a restaurant!
As for the couting pennies thing, I don't bother. It doesn't work for me and it stresses me out beyond belief. I rould all bills up to the nearest $5 (built in snowflakes!) and at the end of the month flake them. I also give myself spending money/grocery money in cash. When its gone its gone. I throw my change in a jar and save it for times when I need to have some extra money to blow on whatever I feel like.
Just keep in mind you didn't accrue the debt in a month and it won't go away that quickly. Just keep focusing one day at a time! You can do this!

First off, don't feel like you are competing with others here. I don't track every penny. I am not like that. I have an allotted amount of $$ in our checking account from payday to payday. I don't really care where that gets spent (it goes to gas, groceries, fun money, diapers, etc.) its just that we CAN'T go over that amount of money. We don't have c/c's anymore (cut them up - we got the balance - not that cards) but I don't overly stress about tracking that dollar for dollar.
If posting your snowballs/snowflakes isn't working for you and causing you stress - don't overthink that. Just forget about it for a while. The board is meant to help you - not stress you !!!
