Life has its ups and downs. Sure it has more downs than ups right now, but think ahead to the wedding. And when you get out debt this time.....build a bigger efund. Lessons learned, you can do this!

I can hear the frustration between your words and I can understand it...I think we all can.

Lauren - I'm so glad you came back in your time of need. We're all here for you.

I agree with PP - life has ups and downs - as do credit card balances at times. :) Your brother will come through for you, which will go a fair amount toward all this.

Just focus on the cc's at the moment. Give Sallie a rest until it's time to pay her back! :)

All my best,
Danni

Hi Lauren,

I was interested in your post...it is just SO easy to slide back on the financial front.

Athough my husband and I have credit cards (and, yes, credit card debt) we have made a commitment NOT to use them anymore.

Oh my Lauren!
You early financial life here is a little scary. You did it before and really must dig in hard again. Making more money is not going to help in the long run, let me tell you.
I was you once and even though I made more, I ended up spending more. The best thing I did was to really get tough and cheap and harsh with what I did.
I had a car payment only 3 years of my life, my first out of college Mustang, but I soon kicked that habit and have bought cars using cash ever since.
I did have credit cards and thought they were no big deal until I had some major setbacks and now I am paying more on interest than any other expense in my budget. So anything I purchased on credit has cost me.
I never had an animal until I got a mutt for my daughter few years back. I see a lot of people here putting thousands into animals and it is a personal choice, but I can see that before getting an animal, an vet emergency fund should be in place as they can be such a financial drain. We take animals to the vet probably once every year and a half, and groom them only a couple times a year. They get giant bags of cheap dog food and they are fine with it. They like playing and cuddling with us most of all.

What are your wedding plans?
Please promise yourself to make a wedding budget and stick to it. You will hardly ever watch a wedding video or look at the photos other than the first month or so, so getting friends to do those would be one way to save money if you need to. You don't want to start your married life off in debt.

Good luck and congrads on the engagement!

-Marie
