Is anyone else here outraged???

I don't want to spark an ethical debate here, but I'm just having such a difficult time reckoning with this.

Yes, both my husband and I were talking and we are totally outraged.
RE some of the comments for the mother who had octpulets--she had her remaining embryos implanted at once, they were about to be destroyed and she didn't want that, so she found a doctor willing to implant all of them.
Totally outraged.

I have been outraged since I first heard about them. I have undergone numerous fertility treatments and know how it works pretty well. There is NO WAY any doctor in his/her right mind should have transferred that many embryos. The articles I've read about it aren't very consistent. In one the grandmother said that all of the embryos "took", but in the article you posted it said they didn't transfer that many, but some split. I suppose that's possible, but I find it hard to believe more than one, maybe 2, split. That means they transferred at least 6, best case (IMO). I can't think of a single possible way this could have happened without someone acting irresponsibly. IMO, the doctor is more to blame because he/she is the professional and (IMO again) was not acting ethically when he/she transferred those embryos. If someone has the means to support 14 children, more power to them, but a single, unemployed mom simply does not have the means. Just recently I got tough with potty training my 3 year old because it's just too darn expensive to have 3 kids in diapers. I don't even want to imagine what it would be like to have 8 in diapers (except chances are, somebody else will be paying for those diapers). And that's assuming all 6 of the others are potty trained. And the odds of those babies having ongoing medical problems because they were born so early are pretty good. That means that chances are, they'll be depending on the government for expensive medical care and therapies, not to mention the $2-3K per baby per day in the NICU. I could go on and on, but this rant is getting long enough.
As far as I'm concerned, if someone who has the money wants to clone their dog, that's their prerogative. It's ridiculous, if you ask me, but whatever... Someone who is bringing that many babies that she can't support into the world is something entirely different.
Well put! Gross on every level is pretty darn accurate. Not to mention irresponsible. I'm still blown away by this story.

Just incredible!

I personally think this woman and her doctor are out of their mind!
